Führung >Die verborgene Madonna<
with Alexander HauerHow many depictions of the Virgin Mary are there in Melk Abbey? Which ones make you pause, where do you pass by almost carelessly? Which ones are particularly moving and have some traces been lost? Alexander Hauer, a former student of the abbey, sets off in search of the ‘hidden Madonna’ and takes his audience on a very personal tour of the various images of the Virgin Mary in Melk Abbey. He interweaves these with stories, associations and literature. The poet Ava von Melk and the ‘Melker Marienlied’ from the 12th century, which will also be premiered in a new setting on 7 June as part of the Baroque Days, deserve special attention.
